ROOKHARD
the island is the whole world
Rookhard is open. The island is waiting.

Downloads

Rookhard has its own client. It already knows where the world is, so there is no server address to type: you open it, enter your account number and your password, and you are in Rookgaard.

What the client is

  • The authentic 7.4 graphics, taken from the version this world is built on.
  • Movement with A S W D (and Q E Z C for the diagonals). The arrow keys keep working.
  • Nothing the world does not have: no outside services and no automation. The in-game store is right there in the client, and what it sells is listed in it.

How to get it

Download the client — 35 MB

Installer version 2026.10.20.0850 — Windows shows the same number under “Add or remove programs”, so you can always tell which one you have.

Run it and you are done. It installs the game, puts a shortcut in your start menu, and keeps itself up to date — the world address comes with it, so there is nothing to type.

If Windows blocks it

The installer is not signed with a paid certificate, so Windows has never seen it before and does not know who wrote it. Three different warnings can show up, and they are not the same thing.

  • Your browser says the file is not commonly downloaded. Open the browser’s download list, find the file, and choose Keep.
  • A blue window, “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway. That is SmartScreen, and this is all it takes.
  • A grey window, “Smart App Control blocked an app that might not be safe”, offering only OK and the Store. This one has no way through, and no button on this page can open it.

Smart App Control is that last one, and it is a different feature: it refuses every program it does not already recognise, and it has no “run anyway”. It is on for some Windows 11 machines and off for most. You can turn it off in Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings — but know what you are doing: Windows does not let you turn it back on afterwards, only reinstalling Windows does, and it guards everything you run, not only this game. That one is your call, not ours to talk you into.

The real fix is on our side, not yours — an installer signed by a certificate Windows already trusts. It does not exist yet, and until it does this page cannot make that block go away.

Once you have it

  • Run the installer, then open Rookhard from your start menu.
  • You need an account before you can enter. Accounts are free: create one here.

The full map of the island

Your minimap only draws what you have walked through. This file is the whole of Rookgaard, taken from the world itself: the town, the mines, the dungeons and every floor below them. Put it in place and the minimap is already complete before you ever set foot there.

Read this first: putting the full map in place throws away your own map. Every mark and every note you placed on it goes with it. Step 4 saves the old one under another name, so nothing is lost for good — but do not skip it.

  1. Close Rookhard completely — the game and the window that opens it. Rookhard writes your minimap when it closes, so with the game open it would simply undo what you are about to do.
  2. Download the file. Download the map — 129 KB It arrives already named minimap740.otmm, which is the name the game looks for — do not rename it.
  3. Open the folder where the game keeps your map. Hold the Windows key and press E to open the file explorer. Click the address bar at the top, paste %APPDATA%\OTClientV8\rookhard there and press Enter. Windows takes you straight to the folder — you do not need to know where it is.
  4. Save your old map. Inside that folder there is a file called minimap740.otmm: that is the map you drew by playing. Right-click it, choose Rename, and call it minimap740-meu.otmm. If the file is not there at all, you have simply never played yet — go on to the next step.
  5. Move the downloaded file into that folder. It is in your Downloads folder, named minimap740.otmm. Cut it there (Ctrl X) and paste it here (Ctrl V). Nothing is overwritten, because the old file now has a different name.
  6. Open Rookhard and log in. The minimap in the right column of the client now shows the whole island, and Ctrl Shift M opens it large.

Want your own marks back? Close the game, delete minimap740.otmm from that folder, and rename minimap740-meu.otmm back to minimap740.otmm.

Why closing the game first matters: while you play, Rookhard saves your minimap every half minute. Drop the file in with the game open and the next save writes over it.
